Submit A Memory
I remember the back door was open one day, and I rushed toward it. Standing at the doorsill, I looked down at the small stair I would have to step down to get out of the house. I decided I could do it. I looked into the big grassy back yard. I could see the fruit trees and my mom's horse eating grass. I could not wait to get out there. I wobbled on my little feet as I grabbed the side of the doorway preparing to take that step outside. Right then, my mom picked me up and closed the door in one motion. I remember feeling so angry that she did not trust that I could go outside by myself. I wanted to show her that I could take that step by myself. I could walk, but I couldn't talk yet, or I would have told her how mad I was.

I remember moving out of the first house that we lived in. I stood at the bottom of a small ladder that my mom was standing on. She was taking jars of jam and canned fruit out of the attic and handing them to me. I was placing them on the floor. I didn't know what moving was, but I was excited about it, and I wanted to help. This happened before I was 2-1/2.

Hawaii
I remember walking to the side of the pool and seeing a long dark hallway between the garage and the tall fence that surrounded the pool. I ventured down this dark, dusty, narrow place, finding several small flower pots and loose potting soil on the ground and in some of the pots. This seemed a bit creepy to me, so I ran back out into the sunshine and close to the pool. That's when someone took my picture. I remember that, too. I could walk, but I couldn't talk yet.
